New Exhibit, Gallery Exhibit, Museum, Lecture
The Claymont Stone School/schoolhouse museum is trying something new! We will be open every Saturday in February from 1:00-4:00.
We have exhibits featuring Claymont High School and photographs of Claymont from years gone by.
Right now, during the month of February, we are featuring a special exhibit about Claymont's role in the peaceful integration of Claymont High School. Claymont's actions were used as a stellar example in the Supreme Court's landmark decision of Brown v the Board.
This exhibit is on display for a limited time only.
On Saturday, February 17th from 1:15 to 2:00, we will have guest speakers: Ginny Tryon Smilack (daughter of school board member Dr. Sager Tryon) and Sandy Couch (student who was integrated into the high school). They will tell their stories about the the 1952 integration of Claymont High School. Hear their first person accounts.
Free to members of the Claymont Stone School, $5.00 for non members.
