Article 5, No Torture

Abigail Rodgers Layton serves as the Director of the Family Division at the Delaware Office of the Attorney General.  Prior to this role, she served as the Commander of the Child Predator Task Force, a statewide Task Force designed to combat technologically facilitated crimes against children.   She has served as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice for 12 years. She has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Delaware School in the area of Child Exploitation. Ms. Layton is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Villanova University School of Law.  Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Ms. Layton started her career at Taylor Duane Barton & Gilman in Boston, Massachusetts.  She has served on the editorial board of The Advocate, a publication of Delaware Trial Lawyers Association.  She has been honored with the Delaware Department of Justice Distinguished Service Award, the Linnean Award for Outstanding Leadership and the Alfred J. Hamme Award for Leadership.  Ms. Layton was also named a Woman of Distinction by Gettysburg College. She has served as the President of the Board of Directors for Prevent Child Abuse Delaware, as a member of the Board of Directors of Delaware Guidance Services and a member of the Richard K. Herrmann Technology Inn of Court.  She has also served as the chair of the Human Trafficking Coordinating Council for the State of Delaware.  Ms. Layton currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at Ursuline Academy
